Perspective.
Fact: Some days are rougher than others.
Yesterday was one of those days. It didn't help that it was a Monday, so my attitude was slightly less than sunny (I'm sad to admit). It also didn't help that it's parent-teacher conference week (13 hour work days Tuesday and Thursday) and I had to end a lesson I was excited about and consequently send out almost half of one of my classes due to less-than-stellar behavior. I hate being that kind of teacher..."you can't handle it, so we're going to do a worksheet and silent work time". But I know I can only give them what they can handle. Nonetheless, I left work anxious and stressed.
That's when Matt Maher saved me. I had the radio on quietly in the background when a song of his that I like caught my attention.
"And love will hold us together, make us a shelter to weather the storm...."
I usually save my windows down, jamming out sessions for country roads, but something sparked me yesterday. I decided I could sulk all evening, or jam out and feel the love (His love, of course), while being grateful I have a steady job and the opportunity to work with kids who have no love in their lives.
Yah, option 2 was much more helpful.
Then, Rosie came over. My adorable, chunky four week old niece. That did me in for sure. Holding her for five minutes reminded me that life is all about perspective. Here is this little bundle of love who can make all the stress in the world melt away with one coo and a sort-of half smile. She reminded me that moments of stress and chaos at work will come and go, but the love that bears all things, hopes all things, and believes all things remains. The same Love that Matt sings about gave us Rosie and pours out on me intensely all day, every day.
With that perspective, the rest of this week doesn't look so bad.

You're right, Emily! This was exactly my day today. Thanks for putting it into words! :)
