The best kind of day.

Yesterday was one of the best days in recent memory.  School was unexpectedly cancelled because of extremely cold temperatures and wind chills, resulting in a cozy day at home with my boys.  I suppose it wasn't entirely cozy, I mustered up the willpower to hit the gym early in the morning (still riding the New Year high) and I definitely missed the wood burning fireplace from our apartment, but nonetheless we spent the majority of the day lounging, napping, and laughing at Charlie's antics.
Lately he is mimicking sounds and actions, including but not limited to making the sign of the Cross (in a Tarzan chest-beating fashion), reading books, making monkey noises, blowing his nose, sweeping, Swiffering, and flushing the toilet.  He is also obsessed with throwing things away and climbing up and down the stairs.

My favorite part of the day happened around noon when Chaz fell asleep on the couch.  After saying "da da" a hundred times before realizing he was out for the count, Charlie grabbed a book, his bottle, and climbed up on me on the other couch.  We snuggled for a few minutes while he sucked on his bottle, then read a book.  At some point I started whispering to hold his attention (he currently has a .1 second attention span with books before we're on to the next one).  Charlie thought the whispering was hilarious and started whispering back to me.  We had a legitimate whispering conversation for about five minutes.  I love that he is reaching the age where he understands tone of voice and even things I say, and yet I hate how quickly he is growing up.  The moment passed too soon and then he was bouncing around the house again, but I was left reflecting about how quickly this short life passes.

I'm so thankful for the moments like this that I've been given.
