3 months old!
In Charlie's third month of life he blessed us in so many ways. It seems like he is changing more and more everyday. Mom and Dad also had some exciting milestones of our own.
Charlie's Milestones:
-Holding his bottle. Sometimes this month Charlie figured out how to grasp his bottle and swat it away when he wasn't hungry.
-Laughing and Babbling: 12/30/13 The first laugh was subtle while I was baby talking like crazy (he was probably thinking I'm a dork) but he has been babbling and talking to us all month. It is simply adorable to carry on conversation with him. I can tell he is learning how to carry a conversation and responds to questions in his own baby language. Let's just say when Charlie starts talking Chaz and I drop everything and oogle over him.
-Still sleeping through the night (only in the car seat). I've given up fighting the crib battle. I've decided to stick with the method where Chaz and I get the most sleep, since everyone is happier that way. I figure when Charlie gets tired of his car seat he will naturally outgrow it and we will transition to the crib then. Until then, we put the carseat in the crib so it still feels like we're using it. :)
-Maybe a tad bit of stranger danger. I had to take him out of Mass for the first time last weekend. He took one look at all the people, the music came on, and the lower lip started to quiver.
Zurcher Milestones:
Our first Christmas together!
We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas day with the Zurcher's in Papillion. We had a wonderful time visiting the Rybar/Zurcher side and the Scanlan side. We went to Christmas Eve Mass at the Columban Fathers and visited the Zurcher's friends, the Gengels. Everyone was excited to see Charlie, some met him for the first time. He was a champ being passed around all day.
The Pohlen family celebrated Christmas on December 28th when everyone could be together. Charlie and Rose made out like bandits with tons of new toys and clothes. Chaz and I are pretty excited about our new espresso machine! We had a wonderful time again and Aunt Pat and Uncle Ned's family even made surprise trips down.
Our first Anniversary!!
Because of our family Christmas on the 28th we celebrated the night before. Memere and Pepere babysat Charlie while Chaz and I went out. We have been wanting to try the restaurant JTK for awhile. It is in the Haymarket and consistently one of the top rated restaurants in town. They have a date night special for only $50. You get a four course meal and a bottle of wine. The food was exquisite, definitely worth the price. Following dinner we came home and enjoyed a piece of cake from our wedding and a bottle of champagne from our Honeymoon in Cozumel. It was so nice to finally taste the cake! It was still delicious. We also watched our wedding Mass. Fr. Holdren's homily is still the most amazing wedding homily I've ever heard. To be able to recall memories from our wedding day and the last year of Marriage together was wonderful. It was the perfect day.

Snowsuit!
Chunky monkey!
Rocking a Christmas present from Uncle Bill.
Hangin' with mom
Our happy little boy.
He almost can hold his head completely up. He's a little top-heavy, so that chin hangs low still. :)

Before our date.
The hilarious Anniversary cake my Grandpa had made. He didn't want to leave anyone out, so it says, "Happy Anniversary, You Name It."
-We are going to have a nephew! Nate and Toni are expecting a sweet little boy, Giovanni, in May. We can't wait for Charlie to have a little boy cousin to grow up with. He will go by Gio-too adorable.
-Happy New Year! We were able to ring in 2014 with great friends.
Here's to 2014! Can't wait to see what life brings...
